The Death Of Patriarchy In The Modern World

The ‘Red Pill’ mentality is that of men who have misogynistic values and views on what society should be like and how men are the ones who are truly in danger of the world and the way the world is changing. They believe men make up up the majority of the homeless, and that men are the majority of suicide, they are the ones with a shorter life expectancy, drug addicted, unemployed, school dropouts and the majority of the imprisoned. As much there is statistical data that supports these beliefs many in society believe that it is men who have done this to themselves. However the Men’s rights groups are seen as men who just simply hate women.

The perception that that Red Pill mentality is for women haters may be considered true, there is a website created by a man named ‘Paul Elam’ and it’s appropriately named the “A Voice for Men”. On this website you see titles like “When is it okay for you to punch a woman”, “Manufacturing female victims marginalizing vulnerable men”, “why it matters if a rape victim was drunk”, “If you see Jezebel in the road, run her down”,”Feminatzi” , “women it’s time for you to man up. What is shocking is how so many people support and follow this red pill society of hate. But this group of men genuinely believe that men are truly in danger. The custodians of the ‘Red Pill’ association are the “Men Rights Activists” group. There is a term for men of this caliber that term is ‘Incel’, Incels are deemed to be racist, sexist, homophobic and generally just hateful towards anything that isn’t pro-masculine.

Many people on the contrary of these incels claim that these men are just insecure because women are finally sharing the spaces and are acquiring or seem eligible for all the spaces That were traditionally occupied by and reserved for men. The film “Fairplay”, tells the story of a couple living in New York. This couple met at the same workplace,  fell in love, got engaged and even moved in together. Things took a turn when the girlfriend got the job promotion the boyfriend always wanted. Their relationship began to unravel and the boyfriend himself wound up getting fired. The downward spiral continued one thing led to another and the boy sexually assaulted his wife to be at their engagement party. At the last scene in the film the girlfriend stabs him repeatedly he begged for her to stop, he submitted to her and apologized to her to the point of even begging for mercy. With tears in his eyes the girlfriend spared him and ordered him to leave.

This last scene in the film is exactly where masculinity is in 2024.Begging for acceptance, submitting to the female, homosexuality has disempowered the male gaze. This is the nightmare of men’s rights activists. In their minds men are the ones who work the most, who are imprisoned the most and they are the ones who suffer the most, yet now they are being further pushed to a corner. The lines of masculinity get blurred every day, but more people believe it really is just the conservatives who are complaining about the society drifting away from their values,  some even say its traditionalists who are trying to lengthen the thresholds of the customs that came with the by-gone era.

However one can argue the necessity of the Men’s Rights Association. The unemployment rate is terrible for everyone, however as the providers men are supposed to be, incels feel as if we as men are the ones who feel it the most.

Even in entertainment and media Mocking men has become a powerful trend. The first example can be the Jada Pinkett and Will Smith situation. Will Smith is the perfect symbol of the fall of the “Man’s Man”, in society. He was untouchable from the 90’s to the 2000’s. Even in the 2010’s he still maintained his status as a cultural icon. However in the 2020’s a new wave of embarrassment plagued Will Smith. After August Alsina divulged his affair with Will Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith. The world made a mockery of Will, Jada would repeatedly go on blogs and news networks and speak about how she longs for her deceased friend (possible lover) Tupac Shakur. Even at the Oscars when Will stood up for Jada by slapping Chris Rock for making jokes about Will.

Since that incident it has become a trend for women to embarrass men online. Looking at the Incident with Keke Palmer at an Usher concert, where Usher asked Keke to get on stage and dance with him Usher held her in a way that people said was inappropriate because Keke had her boyfriend at home. The same thing happened at an Omalay concert where a young unknown man took his girl to the concert. Omalay requested a girl from the crowd to join him on stage. Now this girl had a boyfriend who she was standing next to, so as Omalay took his girl and to the back performed a lude act with her, her man was humiliated to the point it even trended on twitter. Another incident involves Nigerien pop sensation Ruger who also has a part in his act where he invites a girl to the stage to dance with him. However Ruger takes it to a new level when he asks the girls he invites to the stage if they have a relationship, he tells the girls to rebuke their boyfriends and insult them on stage. Humiliating the male significant other has become a world wide trend, but imagine this is just the superficial version of the fall of patriarchy.

What is happening now is the birth of “The Female Gaze”. While women are seen as “sex objects”, men are seen as “success objects”. Men feel entitled to women’s bodies, women feel entitled to men’s money. Dr Warren Farrel who is the author of the book “ The Myth Of Male Power”, writes that a society survives and even strives by how well society trains its men to be disposable. Disposable in war as soldiers, disposable in work as firefighters, coal miners and construction workers.

After exploring all these notions on what the Men’s Rights Activists are fighting for we can deduce That the problem is not women ‘taking over’, or sexuality bringing the institutions that patriarchy has assembled. To be frank, patriarchy is harmful to itself. Patriarchy is in everything religion, law, the work and the Incel idea of ‘the High value man’. This ‘high value man’ concept is both the reason why we see women as sex objects and see ourselves as success objects. Human beings find ways to dehumanize ourselves. The “Man’s World” that James Brown sang about in the 1970’s is the world we see today, the man’s world has turned on itself. Even rewinding back to the Omalay incident, yes it was wrong  for her to dance the way she did with Omalay while embarrassing her boyfriend, but it was Omalay who invited her on stage. Omalay had no respect for the boyfriend. One can say that Omalay could have not known, and that is a fair argument. But Omalay has not reached out in any way to apologize to the man. We as humans need to stop dehumanizing each other. It is these man made institutions that have resulted in the quality of life the modern man experiences being lower than it used to be, the same institutions are the ones that are giving these incels all their data and information on the plight of men. Patriarchy has just turned on itself as it was destined to. Patriarchy has no ally, men have made other men expendable. So when Men’s Rights Activists complain they need to start with the man in the mirror.
