1. Programming for Everybody - Getting Started with Python 

Programming for everybody covers the basics of constructing a program using simple instructions from Python.

Coursera is affiliated with over 200 Universities and all of their courses are conducted by reputable, qualified lecturers.

On Coursera you are able to select from 1000’s of free online courses. Programming with Python was the most popular in 2020 which saw over 2M enrol online.

The course only requires moderate computer experience.

According to Coursera, 30% of their students started a new career after finishing their course.

2. Artificial Intelligence for Robotics – Stanford University

By enrolling in this course, you’ll learn the basic methods in artificial intelligence, planning and search, localisation, tracking and control, all with a focus on Robotics

The course is 5 star rated, with one user describing it as “Wonderfully taught, very elegant building of concepts from minimal discourse”

3. Psychology on iTunesU with professor Paul Bloom

iTunes you is gaining momentum as a great alternative to traditional studying. The benefit of taking a course through iTunesU is that it provides a seamless integration between your apple devices, making studying anywhere, anytime a possibility.

Yale has an excellent open course Psychology collection available on iTuneU tutored by Professor Paul Bloom.

Bloom has an incredible collection of titles available for you to listen on audible as well.

4. Justice by Michael Sandel

This course - offered by Michaek Sandel is a political philosopher at Harvard University Law School, was Harvard University’s fist free course available online and on television. You will explore a critical analysis of classical and contemporary theories of Justice. One student describes it as “Highly advisable for legal students who want to think outside the box.

5. Fundamentals of Digital Marketing – Google Digital Garage

With over 100 courses to choose from, Google Digital Garage is a great option if you are looking for free online courses with no time limit. They have unlimited access, beautifully set out modules and videos. Courses are interactive and once you complete a course, you receive an accredited Google certificate which you can add to your resume.

The Fundamentals of Digital Marketing in a 40 hour course with 26 modules. The course is accredited by interactive advertising Bureau of Europe and The Open University.

With the course, you’ll be able to identify your online goals, how to build an online presence, how to market your online presence and how to analyse and adapt to online change.

6. 3D Printing Classes – Skillshare

Skillshare has over 10 000 courses available and you can sign-up for a 2 month free trial, this means for 2 whole months you can study anything you want for free. The difference with Skillshare is that courses are not necessarily given by teachers or professors, but are given by those with expertise and experience.

7. Making sense of the news – news literacy lessons for Digital Citizens, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

This course is rated 4.93 out of 5 stars and is led by several reputable lecturers from the University of Hong Kong. It’s a 6 week course, helping you to discern the fake new, propaganda, hoaxes, satire, advertising and rumours from the real deal. In the Digital space we’re living in, it can be difficult to make that distinction sometimes. Over the course of 6 weeks, you’ll develop critical thinking skills which will help you to identify fact from fiction.

8. Creative Live

If you’re a creative individual, Creative live will open up a whole new world of insight into photography, art, design, personal finance, craft, podcasting, writing,  music and audio.

Although Creative Live offers courses that require payment, they have a unique system where you can log on to lectures or classes and stream them for free.

Users can identify up and coming classes, dates and time and them rsvp to gain access to the live stream. The downside of accessing free is you are not able to hit pause and go at your on pace, but that’s just a small price to pay for what you get in return.
